Flexible Screwdriver

Our own novel flexible driver: no coils, tool-free cleaning, a controllable tip and equal torque in both directions.

Overview

In surgical procedures it is sometimes necessary to drive screws where direct access along the screw axis is obstructed by other instruments or by the patient’s anatomy. In these cases, flexible screwdrivers are used.

Tip and handle are connected by a super-flexible nitinol wire, while torque is transmitted through a hexagonal ball-and-socket mechanism. Separating flexibility from torque transmission is the key to the design — and the same principle applies to flexible drills.

Bluewater Medical has developed and successfully tested a novel solution that significantly improves upon the state of the art. Please contact us to learn more about its technical capabilities and the potential to customize the design for your application.
